  • Good Queen Bess

I thank God that I am indeed endowed with such qualities that if I were turned out of the realm in my petticoat, I were able to live in any place Christendom.
    - Queen Elizabeth I

Really and truly, you don't have to tell me how cliche I am for reading a biography about one of history's most revered and powerful redheaded women.  I'm egotistical.  I get it.

But I defend my actions resolutely.  She was crowned at the age of 25, and she ruled for 45 years.

Her reign however is not the primary subject of my musings.  I'm reading David Starkey's book which emphasizes the Queen's formative years- her birth through her early adulthood.  He is intrigued as to the circumstances- (her mother's beheading, her four stepmothers, her religiousity, her intellect)- that shaped the character and principles which would later govern one of the most powerful kingdoms of Elizabeth's time...

Post.Script.- I'm interested in starting a Book and Beer Club here in the Denton area.
I need takers- people who enjoy reading and discovering new books; people who enjoy discovering and drinking new types of beer.  Many an enlightening discussion is to be had over both!

(I feel like this could be the beginning of something beautiful...)
